Kerri Monnerat
Kerri has been a teacher for 16 years and a Director of Children's Theatre for 13 years; running her own productions and workshops with over a half dozen theatre schools and theatre companies throughout Southern California before moving to Colorado. Under the original tutelage of Karen Tobey, Kerri began teaching the award winning Triad Music Series and then moved on to Assistant Teacher and then Director for Kids on the Air in Los Angeles. Since her move to Colorado in 2002, Kerri worked with Conifer StageDoor Theatre School for a year and a half before taking over the school as Director for StageDoor School of Performing Arts and creating an education curriculum for their program. She now, along with her mother Karen Tobey, is the Executive Director of Colorado Children's Theatre, a complete theatrical education and performance opportunity for children ages 4-18 with classes and productions in both Conifer and Evergreen.
As a student at Emerson College in Boston, Kerri trained under Kristin Linklater; professor of voice and text and Shakespeare in the Graduate Theatre Division of Columbia University as well as the author of "Freeing the Natural Voice." From there, she studied at Stella Adler and under Lewis Smith studying the famous Roy London method as well as studying the famous Meisner method. Kerri began her career as a professional performer working with Broadway Companies along the coast of California. She is a SAG union accredited actress and has appeared in studio and independent films. Kerri has won the Bobby Award for Best Actress and Choreographer as well as the Ray Cohn Award for Best Actress.
Kerri has directed/choreographed over 100 musicals with over 20 different companies in California. She has been on the Board of the Newport Theatre Arts Center and the Costa Mesa Theatre. Kerri has also worked as an Administrative Assistant to Cindy Osbrink, of the Osbrink Talent Agency in Los Angeles. She has studied with the Stellar Adler Acting Academy and under Lewis Smith and Bobby Chance. She has worked with many famous actors and singers such as Shane Sparks, Kyle Mclaughlin, Elisabeth Shue, and REO Speedwagon, and is a published songwriter.
Kerri's passion for performing and teaching has always been founded in the sense of community that only theatre can create. She is constantly surprised and thrilled by the insights theatre can give regarding the many facets of the human condition.
